# Frequently asked questions

Answers to questions we are often asked. If your question is not listed, please get in touch.

## General

### What does it cost?

That depends on the type of sample, the analysis and the distance to your farm. You always receive a quote in advance.

### How quickly will I get the result?

That differs per analysis. We will let you know in advance when you can expect the result.

### Do I need to be present during sampling?

For soil, that is not necessary. For manure, feed and water we arrange a time, because we need to be at the pit, the silage clamp or the tap.

### Which laboratory analyses the samples?

A laboratory specialising in agricultural analysis. The result shows which laboratory carried out the analysis.

### Can I also use these samples for legal requirements?

Samples required by law, such as soil testing for the phosphate class of a field, are subject to their own rules. Contact us and we will find out what is possible in your situation.

### Which area do you cover?

The whole of the Netherlands. We drive from Brabant. We include the distance to your farm in the quote.

### How do you keep the samples apart?

With [our own app](https://monsternemer.nl/en/app/). Each sample bag gets a printed label and is scanned twice, before sampling and at the car. This way a bag cannot end up with the wrong field or the wrong layer.

## Soil and nitrogen

### How often should I have my soil tested?

For fertilisation, once every few years per field is usual. If you manage your nitrogen closely, a measurement each season can be useful.

### What is Nmin?

Nmin is the mineral nitrogen in the soil: nitrate and ammonium. Read more about it on the page about [nitrogen](https://monsternemer.nl/en/nitrogen/).

## Manure, feed and water

### Which manure can I have analysed?

Slurry and solid manure from cattle, pigs, poultry and other animals.

### When can I have my silage sampled?

Once the silage has fully fermented. This usually takes a number of weeks after ensiling.

### How often should I have drinking water tested?

For water from your own source, an annual check is usual.

## From list to lab, without manual work

Every list, every field and every sample bag is in our own app, from the first phone call to the courier. As a result, less goes wrong, it takes fewer hours and more information goes to the laboratory with each sample.

- Call script with the questions from the protocol
- Walking route and zigzag across the field, with GPS
- Labels from the printer, every sample bag scanned twice
- Farmers' data in one secure place
